What Do I Say Now? Answering Tough Questions From Caregivers

Many speech language pathologists feel less than comfortable collaborating with parents, teachers, and other caregivers who impact the environment of students who stutter. This session provides concrete, “use-on-Monday” frameworks for how to confidently respond to challenging questions from caregivers.

  • Nina Reeves

    Nina Reeves is a board-certified specialist in fluency differences, and co-owner of Stuttering Therapy Resources. She specializes in stuttering therapy for children, adolescents, and young adults. Nina is an author of practical clinical materials and presenter of over 500 professional development workshops for speech-language pathologists. Nina also has decades of experience in the stuttering support community. For her contributions as a career-long public school speech-language pathologist (SLP), Nina has received the the ASHA (American Speech-Language-Hearing Association) Excellence Award for outstanding contributions to public schools, the ASHA-Foundation Van Hattum Award, and is an ASHA Fellow.

  • J Scott Yaruss

    PhD, CCC-SLP, BCS-SCF, F-ASHA

    J. Scott Yaruss is a Professor of Communicative Sciences and Disorders at Michigan State University and President of Stuttering Therapy Resources. His research, funded by NIH and NSF, examines ways of reducing adverse impact experienced by people who stutter. He has published more than 400 articles, books, and other resources, and given more than 1000 presentations for audiences around the world.
