This presentation will discuss issues of diversity and the impact of using racially and culturally diverse picture books in literacy-based therapy. Participants will identify the effects of underrepresentation for marginalized groups. Furthermore, learners will be able to explain the benefits of selecting diverse picture books to help all children navigate our increasingly global society.

    Shontaye Glover Jones is an alumnus of Morgan State University and received her Master of Science degree in communication disorders from William Paterson University in New Jersey. She is the owner of Having Our Say, LLC where her private practice provides in-home services for children with speech and language delays. In addition to being the CE administrator and Director of Business Development for Bright Ideas, Shontaye is also the award-winning author of Liam's First Cut and The Season of Yes!
