This 1-hour training is designed to empower speech-language pathologists (SLPs), educators, and caregivers with practical, evidence-based strategies for modeling language for gestalt language processors (GLPs) who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) devices. Modeling language is one of the most effective, evidence-based ways to support individuals who use AAC and GLPs. This course introduces "The OFFER Method," a unique framework for offering language models that are effective and meaningful for gestalt language processors. Key Learning Outcomes:-Understand the principles behind The OFFER Method. Learn how to create and implement effective language models for gestalt language processors using AAC devices.-Gain practical skills for making language modeling more engaging, accessible, and impactful.-Learn simple ways to use pre-stored messages that are readily available using common AAC applications that can support gestalt language processors and their language development.

    M.S., CCC-SLP

    Nicole is a certified speech-language pathologist with ten years of experience working with neurodivergent children in a variety of clinical settings. After dreaming about it for a decade, she opened a private practice called Connections Speech Pathology to provide play-based, child-led speech therapy services in her community. Nicole is passionate about providing neurodiversity affirming therapy and beyond to autistic kids in her clinic. She is enthusiastic about supporting gestalt language processors and providing access to AAC to as many children as possible.

    MBA, M.S., CCC-SLP

    Amy is a certified speech language pathologist with an extensive background working in a variety of settings, including acute care, skilled nursing facilities, schools, early intervention, and private practice. Additionally, she has had past experience working as an adjunct professor supervising graduate students during their diagnostic clinical practicum. Amy has a passion working with and supporting autistic children and their families using neurodiversity affirming practices. She loves working with gestalt language processors and AAC users.
